Our Story
Born from Grief. Built for Justice.
Say Their Names Justice Initiative was created by impacted families who refused to let their loved ones be reduced to a headline or a case number. After experiencing police brutality, media spin, and systemic stonewalling, we saw the same patterns repeating across the country.
We realized families needed more than sympathy — they needed strategy, structure, and support. We built a justice initiative that makes room for both grief and action, centering the voices of those who live with the aftermath every single day.
Mission Statement:
To support impacted families and communities in navigating injustice while advancing bold policy reforms that hold police, prisons, and systems accountable, with a special focus on mental health and disability justice.

A nation where every stolen life is remembered, every family is heard, and every system that causes harm is confronted, transformed, or dismantled.

Our Relationship to Say Their Names Monuments
Say Their Names Justice Initiative is the policy and advocacy arm of Say Their Names. While Say Their Names Monuments focuses on memorials, exhibits, and public storytelling, the Justice Initiative focuses on legislation, oversight, policy change, and justice navigation for families. Together, they ensure our loved ones are both honored and fought for.
